The following local residents made the Spring 2019 President's List at Georgia Southwestern State University and were among 600 students recognized for scholastic achievement.

Rachel Burke won second place for an oral presentation in humanities titled "Endangering Transgender Prisoner Rights with the Overhaul of PREA" in the 2019 Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference.

More than 75 military awards and scholarships were presented to members of the University of North Georgia's Corps of Cadets at the annual Boar's Head Brigade Military Awards Review, held on March 26 at the convocation center on the UNG Dahlonega campus.

Berry College recently welcomed its newest class of graduates.

Students at the University of Findlay recently participated in the annual Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity. Held on campus, undergraduate and graduate students were given the opportunity to share their research, creativity, and professional learning experiences with the University and community.

These students have been nominated for the Daily Point of Light Award through the Georgia College GIVE Center.

Forty-four Baldwin Wallace University students made a difference by volunteering at diverse destinations during the 2019 spring break. The BW Alternative Break service program gives students the opportunity to spend their breaks helping others. Each experience is led by a BW student with support from a university faculty or staff adviser. Student volunteers traveled to Chicago; Houston; Memphis, Tennessee; Waco, Texas; and Montgomery, Alabama.

Outstanding students from Psychological Science were recognized at the Annual Psychology Recognition Reception (PSYC CON).

Nearly 130 University of North Georgia (UNG) students performed research-based projects and presented their results during the poster sessions March 22 at the 24th Annual Research Conference (ARC) in the Convocation Center on UNG's Dahlonega Campus. Other students participated in panel discussions on topics such as educational experiences and musical research.

Nearly 500 students at The University of Alabama highlighted their research and creative projects during the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference on March 27. The 12th annual conference is hosted by UA's Office for Undergraduate Research and the Office for Research and Economic Development. Poster presentations are grouped by research areas -- instead of by academic colleges or departments -- to align with national trends of using interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving. The conference spurs interest in research among undergraduate students and helps students polish their communication skills, said Dr. Kim Bissell, director of the Office for Undergraduate Research. "We have got some pretty phenomenal students who are truly doing great things," she said.

Georgia College recognizes students who have been elected to serve their Sorority or Fraternity in leadership positions.

More than 1,700 students earned bachelor's degrees from Georgia State University during the Fall 2018 semester, with more than 3,000 students earning degrees at the associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, specialist and doctoral degree levels.

Georgia State University conferred more than 500 master's degrees during commencement ceremonies in December 2018. More than 3,000 students earned degrees at the associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, specialist and doctoral degree levels during the fall 2018 semester.

More than 700 students earned associate's degrees from Georgia State University's Perimeter College during the Fall 2018 semester, with more than 3,000 students earning degrees at the associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, specialist and doctoral degree levels.

Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to approximately 3,600 undergraduate and graduate students during the Institute's 256th Commencement exercises on December 14-15, 2018, at the McCamish Pavilion.

Samford University releases dean's lists after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

Wofford's Interim is a time for exploration and experiential learning outside of the traditional classroom. Students may choose from a variety of on-campus courses, professional internships and research projects, study abroad opportunities or their own independent study project, approved and guided by a faculty adviser. More than 250 students chose to study abroad during Interim 2019.
