Oglethorpe Baseball's 2018 recruiting class ranked #1 in country
The Oglethorpe baseball program's 2018 recruiting class was ranked as the #1 class in NCAA Division III by Perfect Game, the industry leader in promoting baseball and amateur players. Perfect Game assigns points to each recruit according to their national ranking, and the Stormy Petrels came out on top with the most points for the new class.

University of North Georgia announces Dean's Lists for summer 2018
The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for summer 2018. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

UNG faculty and students search for fossils and data on Georgia's coast
University of North Georgia (UNG) faculty members David and Jessica Patterson, alumna Kayla Allen, and twelve undergraduates searched for late Pleistocene-aged fossils by digging holes adjacent to a water canal in Brunswick, Georgia. Funded through a UNG Presidential Incentive Award, the trip in late May and early June yielded a few marine fossils such as stingray teeth and small bone fragments, which were sent to Georgia College & State University (GCSU). GCSU wil house the fossils, and its students will collaborate with UNG students to create a Coastal Georgia Fossil Database, which will feature new and existing fossil collections.

Samford University Commencement Spring 2018
A record 1,240 degrees were awarded. That tops the 2017 record of 1,165. An estimated 250 students graduated with honors. In the seven commencement ceremonies, 33 different degree programs were recognized, including the first graduates in the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Athletic Training, Master of Science in Respiratory Care, Master of Science in Health Informatics and Bachelor of Science in healthcare administration programs in the College of Health Sciences. Graduating students represented 28 states and seven other countries: United Kingdom, Malaysia, China, France, South Korea, Canada and Germany.

University of North Georgia (UNG) President Bonita C. Jacobs recognized more than 1,300 students who achieved a 4.0 GPA during the spring 2018 semester.
